Discolouration, irregular shapes or slight misalignment of the front teeth — veneers are wafer-thin ceramic shells that give your teeth a natural, even appearance. Gentle, long-lasting and almost indistinguishable from real teeth.
Dental veneers are wafer-thin ceramic shells that are bonded to the front surface of the front teeth. The material is almost transparent and very convincingly mimics the natural appearance of tooth enamel. At the same time, ceramic is extremely durable and biocompatible — a combination that makes these ceramic veneers one of the most popular methods in cosmetic dentistry.
As the veneers are often less than a millimetre thick, only minimal grinding of the tooth is required. Nevertheless, a veneer achieves a clearly visible aesthetic effect — whether for a single tooth or for the entire set of front teeth. The result looks natural and is almost indistinguishable from real teeth. This method is now regarded as one of the most reliable ways to permanently improve the appearance of front teeth.
Dental veneers are particularly suitable if you are unhappy with the appearance of your front teeth, but the teeth themselves are still healthy. Typical cases include:
Dental veneers are not suitable for pronounced misalignments requiring orthodontic treatment, or where teeth are severely damaged or unstable. We will discuss this openly with you during a personal consultation.
Ultra-thin ceramic veneers — precisely crafted for a natural-looking result
The treatment usually takes place over two appointments within a week. Each appointment lasts around one to two hours — depending on the number of ceramic veneers and your individual preferences. We’ll guide you through every step and ensure you know exactly what’s happening next at all times.
The tooth and gums are numbed, the tooth is lightly prepared, and a digital scan is taken. This is sent directly to the dental technician. In the meantime, you will be fitted with a temporary plastic crown. Together with the dental technician, the exact colour and shape of the ceramic veneer will be determined — tailored to your preferences and the rest of your teeth.
The temporary restoration is removed and the tooth is cleaned. The ceramic veneer is first placed on the tooth without adhesive and checked for a precise fit, colour and aesthetics. Only when everything is correct is it permanently fixed in place using a special dental adhesive. Finally, we check the bite and make any final adjustments.
Ceramic veneers are long-lasting — with good care and regular check-ups, they often last ten to fifteen years or longer. Ceramic is colour-stable: coffee, tea or red wine do not leave any permanent marks on the surface. Regular dental hygiene appointments at our practice help ensure that your ceramic veneers remain beautiful for the long term.
Important for their longevity: careful daily oral hygiene, avoiding very hard foods and — if you grind your teeth at night — wearing a mouth guard. We’d be happy to discuss this with you if needed.
Both methods aim to improve the appearance of your smile — but in different ways. Teeth whitening is suitable if your teeth are discoloured but their shape and alignment are fine. Dental veneers go one step further: they alter the colour, shape and, in certain cases, the alignment of individual teeth all at once. We’ll work out together which solution is right for you — honestly and without any pressure.
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, a ceramic veneer can last 10–15 years or longer. The ceramic itself is very strong — the risk lies more in the margins of the veneer, where it is bonded to the tooth. We therefore recommend regular check-ups and professional dental cleanings. Veneers are a long-term solution, but not a permanent one — setting realistic expectations is part of our consultation.
