Nitrous oxide (N₂O) relieves anxiety, reduces pain and helps you relax — without you losing consciousness. The effects set in quickly and wear off just as quickly. You can leave the surgery unaided afterwards.
Nitrous oxide (N₂O) has been used successfully in dentistry for decades as a gentle method of sedation. It relieves anxiety, relaxes you and eases pain — without making you lose consciousness. Through a small nasal mask, you breathe in a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide, which induces a pleasant sense of relaxation within a few minutes.
Nitrous oxide sedation is particularly well suited to anxious patients, patients with a pronounced gag reflex and paediatric dentistry.
If you’d like to find out more about nitrous oxide sedation or want to know whether it’s suitable for you, we’d be happy to advise you in a personal consultation. Alternatively, sedation and general anaesthesia are available.
We can advise you on whether nitrous oxide is the right choice for your treatment.
