Nowadays, if you want beautiful, straight teeth, you no longer need to wear visible braces. Aligners — transparent, removable plastic trays — correct misalignments discreetly and are suitable for everyday use. At our practice in Zug, we work with ClearCorrect® by Straumann.
Aligners are transparent, custom-made plastic trays that gradually move the teeth into the desired position. Unlike traditional braces with brackets and wires, they are barely visible, removable and gentle on tooth enamel and gums. The term is derived from the English word ‘align’ and refers to a modern form of orthodontic treatment that prioritises both aesthetics and function in equal measure.
In our practice, we use ClearCorrect® by Straumann — one of the leading aligner systems, backed by many years of experience and offering a high degree of precision.
Clear aligners are particularly suitable for adults and older teenagers whose permanent teeth have fully erupted, who wish to discreetly correct minor to moderate misalignments. Typical cases include teeth that are too close together or too far apart, slight rotations and small gaps between the front teeth.
In cases of very pronounced misalignment or bite problems, traditional orthodontic treatment may be more appropriate — we will discuss this together during your orthodontic consultation.
Adults who wish to have their teeth straightened often shy away from visible metal braces. Clear aligners provide an elegant solution to this problem: they are barely noticeable in everyday life, can be removed before meals and make oral hygiene considerably easier. No brackets, no restrictions on what you can eat — and, in the end, a smile that can be permanently maintained with a retainer.
Your initial consultation with us is free of charge. We’ll discuss your wishes, examine the position of your teeth and explain whether and how teeth straightening with clear aligners is possible for you. If you decide to go ahead with treatment, we’ll take a digital scan — from which we’ll create a detailed plan with a before-and-after comparison. This way, you can see what your results might look like even before the first aligner is fitted.
The initial consultation is free of charge. If you wish to proceed with treatment, we’ll carry out a digital scan of your teeth and take some photos. We’ll use this to create a detailed treatment plan with a before-and-after comparison — the scan and plan cost CHF 150, which will be deducted from the total cost when treatment begins.
You will receive a set of bespoke aligners. Every two weeks, you switch to the next aligner — each one moves your teeth a little further. The aligners must be worn for 20–22 hours a day; remove them when eating and brushing your teeth.
Regular check-ups at our practice ensure that the treatment is progressing according to plan. We will adjust the plan if necessary.
Once treatment is complete, a retainer is important to ensure that your teeth remain in their new position. Retention is a long-term process — initially every day, and later only at night.
